Christmas Shopping in the West End
Although a chore for some (men) a great many people love shopping in London in winter.
Starting at Tottenham Court Road you can make your way along Oxford Street, taking in its lights,
then move onto Regent Street or, if you are feeling extravagant, Bond Street.
On the way chestnut roasters will help keep you warm and add a little Christmas cheer.

Ice Skating
Outdoor ice skating is popular in London every winter. Favourite venues include
Somerset House, Richmond Park, Marble Arch and The Natural History Museum.
At Somerset House there is also an 8-metre ice climbing wall. And at The Natural History Museum
you can enjoy the museum (free of charge) and do some shopping at the Christmas market, which lasts
until 22 Jan.

Pantomime
Pantomime, or 'Panto' as it is often known, is a great British tradition.
Panto is non-silent comic theatre traditionally performed around the Christmas
season.
The stories are well-known (often fairy tales), populated with stock characters,
including a principal boy, traditionally played by a young lady, a heroine,
also played by a young lady and a dame, played by a man.
The humour is very British and often corny and rude.
However it is considered to be family entertainment and remains very popular.
